Erykah Badu spread peace, love, and happiness on Day 2 of Coachella. After a slight delay, the neo-soul songstress hit the main stage in a sheer shall, rolled up overalls, gold accessories, and a black hat. She opened with “20 Feet Tall” from her latest album New Amerykah Part Two, performing crowd favorites like “Appletree” and her mainstay “On and On.” But like Cee Lo Green before her, Erykah’s set ended abruptly when her microphone was cut due to her tardiness. She politely smiled, then tossed the mic head into the audience to express her disappointment. Odd Future, including superfan Tyler, the Creator, and Wynter Gordon were spotted soaking up the sounds of Ms. Badu.

Rye Rye got the party started in the desert. M.I.A.’s 20-year-old protégée lit up the Sahara stage at Coachella in a neon-colored top, cutoff shorts adorned with patches, and rainbow army boots as she dove into her lively set. She gave festivalgoers a taste of her debut album Go! Pop! Bang! by performing her singleBangladesh, and Tyga have contributed to the project, due later this year. “Bang” and the M.I.A.-assisted “Sunshine.” Pharrell (“Shake, Twist, Drop”),

For a man who just pulled his career back from the brink of oblivion with mixtapes, the chance to drop a brand new official album must be a good feeling. It's a feeling Chris Brown plans to hold onto all of 2011. The 21-year old announced yesterday (March 14) at a listening party in L.A. that he would be putting out 2 'F.A.M.E.' albums this year according to The Boombox "[This] is the first part of the 'F.A.M.E.' album," Chris announced. "I'm coming out with another album six months later." A lot of artists attempt to put out 2 albums in one year, but it's difficult task on a major label. I think Chris's sequel disc will hinge on how the initial cd does retail wise.

When a veteran like Patti LaBelle imparts some wisdom on a young crooner like Lloyd, he pays attention. After the legendary soul songstress heard “Lay It Down,” the first single off his forthcoming album King of Hearts, Patti not only wanted to jump on the remix, she wanted to leave a lasting impression on him. “She told me to lay off the apple juice,” Lloyd tells Rap-Up.com with a laugh. “You wouldn’t understand that; that’s an inside joke. I just learned from her to leave it all out there. Every time I get on the stage, every time I pick up the mic, every time I do this [song], just do it all. She embodies soul, and leaving everything out there for people to see and feel.” The ATL resident aims to do just that for his listeners. While fans were originally set on grabbing a copy of his fourth LP next month, they’ll now have to wait until April 19 to get their hands on it. But Lloyd promises it’ll be worth the wait. “I heard some more music recently before going on tour to Europe,” he states. “I decided to record it. I thought it was a great song; Polow [Da Don] brought it to me. It ended up being such a crazy song that the label [Interscope Records] wants to make that the new single.”

Chris Brown is going Hollywood. The R&B singer has purchased a 3,000-square-foot West Hollywood penthouse for $1.6 million, reports the Los Angeles Times. The bachelor pad occupies the entire top floor of the four-story building, and includes three bedrooms and three-and-a-half bathrooms. Other features in the modern condo are floor-to-ceiling windows that exit to a balcony overlooking the Los Angeles skyline, as well as sleek bamboo wood floors, contemporary décor, stainless steel kitchen appliances, and direct elevator access. Breezy is treating himself to the lavish property in anticipation of his upcoming fourth album F.A.M.E., which has spawned the singles “Look at Me Now” and “Yeah 3X.” The LP is due in stores March 22. Check out where Chris will soon call home below.
